Sunday (1994) – Rain

Sunday 1994 by Jussy

Transatlantic indie-rock trio Sunday (1994) underscore their status as one of 2025’s most promising breakouts with “Rain,” a lush and unwaveringly romantic cut out now via Arista Records.

On “Rain,” Sunday (1994) singer Paige Turner recounts a love story to rival Bonnie and Clyde over cascading guitar chords and lilting drums that evoke dream-pop mixtape mainstays like Mazzy Star and My Bloody Valentine. “I love you from the slammer to heaven / If we’re drinking in bars or if we’re living behind them,” she coos delicately over a wall of sound. “You’re all I’ve got I’m not concerned / Is evil born or something you learn?”

According to the band, “Rain” is essentially about holding on to the memory of a feeling of “a devotion so deep it borders on doom, where love clings to the wreckage of crime and consequence. If fate demands suffering, then let it be shared; whether in a lover’s arms or behind prison bars.” Ever the romantic realists, Sunday (1994), don’t need a happy ending.

Sunday (1994) emerged only a year ago as a band with something to say about the magic of the mundane, unveiling a collection of songs that captures the bittersweet nostalgia of ’90s cinema, blending effortless artistry with quick wit and dark humor. With growing online intrigue and a passionate TikTok following, they first shared “Tired Boy,” with its confessional tongue-in-cheek lyrics splayed over sparkling melancholic guitar. It was the perfect entry to the group’s distinctly charming world, and fans have since fallen in love on both sides of the pond.
