Atlanta-based singer-songwriter Diane Coll is releasing “I Am Fire” for International Women’s Day. She wrote, performed, recorded and produced the three songs herself; it’s her way of taking artistic action to light more fires in the bellies of those who are feeling hopeless about their future.

“There are many people being negatively impacted since January, so I think releasing this on International Women’s Day is symbolic of the fiery compassion that is needed more than ever,” she says. “This year, IWD carries the theme of “Accelerate Action,” meaning we must increase our efforts for equality and for all marginalized voices to rise up and be heard. “

In honor of International Women’s Day, the songs were written in the spirit of the Goddess Kali. She is a destroyer of ignorance and liberator of the ego, as well as an unapologetic warrior who takes on the torment caused by those who operate from their own ignorance and the need to dominate others.

Originally from Chicago and raised on a steady, eclectic diet of 70’s AM/FM radio, Coll found her way to Georgia in the early ’90s, propelled by a desire to soak up the thriving music scenes in Athens and Atlanta. Coll currently lives in the Atlanta area where she works as a mental health therapist.
