Desperately Seeking Suki – Suki

Desperately Seeking Suki releases the single “Suki.”
‘Suki’ is a love song about life’s messy, beautiful bits, the good, the awkward and the real. It’s about meeting someone who truly sees you and being free to be completely yourself. Standing on the dancefloor in the eye of a carousel of glimmering synths and infectious beats, Natassa’s evocative and literate spoken word puts you into her mind’s eye. Bursting into synth-dapped, earworm alt-pop choruses. ‘Suki’ embodies the ups, the downs, the laughs and the big feelings, love with an open heart, even when it’s messy. A rushing and cinematic song built for 2026: relatable yet universal, it burrows into your head and won’t let go. Desperately Seeking Suki will take you by the hand and take you for a ride.
Natassa says: “Suki is about embracing the light and dark in yourself and finding love that holds through the chaos.”
Natassa Zoë, who lives between Australia and the UK, and Danny Pugh, based in Bristol, started Desperately Seeking Suki by sending tracks back and forth across continents before reuniting to launch their debut EP. Together, they craft a sonic tapestry that fuses melodic indie pop, art pop, and dynamic synth pop. Influenced by Wolf Alice, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Arcade Fire and The Naked and Famous, with a genre-blurring sound that will appeal to fans of Santigold, Self Esteem, Lykke Li, and Confidence Man. Of their enigmatic band name she expands, “The name nods to Desperately Seeking Susan and mirrors how the project began – my brother and I sending ideas back and forth between the UK and Australia. ‘Suki’ also relates to love, and the idea of searching for love in some form felt like something most people could relate to.”
Desperate Seeking Suki might be a new creative partnership, but their background and pedigree is rich. Natassa is an actor, musician, and writer. A sponsored Fender Artist and was a session guitarist for artists including Hayley Mary (The Jezabels) and GRAACE, she has shared stages with luminaries like Keith Urban, Liam Gallagher, Birds of Tokyo, DMA’s, and Holy Holy.
As a filmmaker, she created and starred in award-nominated music videos and short films, including Higher Places, Children of the Hour, and Harder to Breathe, with selections at Cannes, Berlin, New York, Toronto, and London festivals. She also co-created and starred in Cheap Choice, winner of the London Independent Film Awards and placed on high rotation on MTV.
