Rioghan – Chapter IV: 520

One of the most distinctive and promising names in the Finnish metal scene, Rioghan, continues unveiling the story of their upcoming Frozen EP with the release of the new single “Chapter IV: 520”, accompanied by a stunning music video.

Blending modern metal, dark pop vibes, and progressive hooks, ‘Frozen EP’ is conceived as one continuous composition. The EP’s journey originates from the band’s striking Madonna reinterpretation, but it extends far deeper — both musically and narratively. The story of the EP, inspired by poetry written by vocalist Rioghan Darcy, forms a cohesive emotional arc.

“The EP is about very brief but meaningful moments,” Darcy explains. “At first, a frozen heart reaches a point where it dares to open up and slowly begins to warm. The ice starts to melt, and after shedding its first tears, the heart cautiously opens the door and invites love back in. The sky opens with the break of light, and unfurled wings catch the wind. Ultimately, it represents letting go of the themes explored on the ‘Kept’ album. It marks the end of one era and the beginning of another.”

Numbers 520 in the title originates from internet slang, meaning “I love you”. Within the EP’s storyline, the track plays a pivotal role, while musically it stands as one of the record’s most infectious highlights.

As the only physical format, Rioghan will release an extremely limited vinyl edition of just 25 copies. The blue & white marble vinyl is divided into five separate five-copy editions, each featuring different cover artwork. The exclusive package also includes a necklace, signed poster and a hand-written sheet of lyrics.

The Frozen EP will be released on April 10. Recorded and mixed by guitarist Teemu Liekkala, the EP was mastered by Grammy-nominated and award-winning engineer Robin Schmidt.

“We have a really exciting spring ahead of us. We’re hitting the road with brand-new songs, and along the way we’ll be sharing stages with some truly amazing artists! Supporting grandson takes us at the legendary Kulttuuritalo for the first time, and in June we’ll be playing at the very first edition of Ankea Festival, which our whole crew is really looking forward to. We’d probably be there together even if we weren’t performing!”, Teemu Liekkala comments.
