Dry Socket – Leglock
Today, Portland based hardcore punks, Dry Socket, share their newest single, “Leglock,” off their highly anticipated new album Self Defense Techniques arriving on March 27, 2026 via Get Better Records.
The band have upcoming tour dates with SPY, Spaced and more.
Dani says, “Leglock” is about the grief and nihilism in realizing the future you were sold is not the future you’re facing.
I wrote this song with my own chronic illness in mind. I’ve had to constantly pivot my life as my abilities have changed and you learn there are no set paths. As a chronically ill person my retirement plan is quite literally death, which may sound awful, but is incredibly freeing. You may not have the future promised, but was it a future you even wanted or had a chance at anyways?
The loss of jobs and income with no replacement becoming a tidal wave as the world is literally running out of drinkable water makes things like saving for retirement, college, having kids or really any sort of planning for anything feel like some sort of joke. Safety and stability has always been an illusion and many people have been lucky enough to not have to face that until recently. Leglock is grief for the life we imagined and the harshness of facing the new reality.
