Releasing via Pretty Decent Music, jazz folk artist, writer, and Award-winning radio producer/presenter Rowan Flack returns to the limelight as she shares her new single, “Make Me Whole.”

This cosy single is the first creative outing since her 2024 EP Forest Fires and marks the start of a new era for Flack, as she begins to tease her forthcoming EP, Nap on the Sofa.

Easing into life, ‘Make Me Whole’ takes centre stage with a tender piano arpeggio that arrives backed by textural, driving percussion. Punctuated by spacious, organic lyricism, gentle melodies gradually unfold the single, balancing a reserved, soft nature with a grounded emotional intensity. A touch over five minutes, the track stands as a detailed exploration of longing and emotional distance, shaped by mood, texture and space. ‘Make Me Whole’ is a celebration of life’s purest moments, the folk-inflected atmosphere influenced by the beauty of the natural world and contemporary European jazz.

Rowan recalls some of the landscapes that the music embodies, sharing, “‘Make Me Whole’ was written in a Bergen fjord-side café, overlooking the ocean, while performing abroad in Norway. I wanted to capture the vastness of the ocean and the longing I felt through sound. The musicians capture this; with flowing piano lines, melancholy trumpet improvisations, and experimental, folk and jazz drumming, it unveils the track in its live context.”

“The EP as a whole is inspired by the gentle rhythm of a long-term relationship. It’s playful and a little self-mocking.”

‘Make Me Whole’ is the first single from the upcoming EP: Nap on the Sofa, supported by Help Musicians and GENERATE Funding. Released via Pretty Decent Music, recorded live at 123 Studios, Peckham, engineered by Brett Shaw (Foals, Florence + the Machine) and performed alongside Rob Dimbleby (piano), Jack Lecomber (double bass), Andrew McCoubrey (drums) and Celeste Cantor-Stephens (trumpet). Their collaborations were integral to the evolution of the record.

Additionally, Flack and her band will celebrate the release of the EP with a launch gig at The Crypt, London, on the 27th February.
