Elly Kace – Pink Sky

Elly Kace by Katelyn White

Elly Kace (she/her/they) has shared a new single from their forthcoming, third album The Seventh Gate to be released March 3rd.

Having studied in conservatory-style opera programs and performing across the globe at esteemed cultural institutions such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, Elly Kace’s voice is a complex instrument. “I’ve been singing longer than I’ve been speaking,” Kace recalls.

Kace’s opera career came to an abrupt halt amidst the pandemic in 2020, and at home, she began exploring a new relationship with sound. “I started letting my voice do what it wanted to do, instead of what I told it to do.” Kace acquired a harmonium and many singing bowls, surrendered to the muse, and in 2021, released her debut album Nothing I see means anything. From then, her urge to write only intensified. She lost several loved ones in quick succession, and with music, found a way to grieve, heal, and connect with the spirit world. Just one year after her debut, Kace released ‘Object Permanence,’ a stunning, sonic transcendence of realms—an embrace of mystic instincts.

The Seventh Gate

The Seventh Gate is an extension of that exploration. While ‘Object Permanence’ delved boldly into the dark depths of the spiritual world, ‘The Seventh Gate’ steps into the light. Kace shares of today’s release: Pink Sky is a final goodbye to the ones hanging on to the energy body long after the physical connection has passed. It is the 8th sound portal in a collection of 10 sound medicine songs. Our energy mingles in the ether, connecting us across space and time to those we have love for. Even after death this connection remains, but sometimes it holds us back from walking into our future. Pink Sky is a tender but adamant goodbye to past loves who continue to haunt my sleep from their wakeless nights.
