Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers – BAIT

Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers by Briana de Silva2

Fresh off their announcement as part of the Laneway Festival 2026 lineup — where they’ll share the stage with Chappell Roan, Wolf Alice, Geese, and more — ARIA Award-winning indie-rock four-piece Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers return with their “big ego, full menace mode” single “BAIT,” the latest from their highly anticipated new album GLORY — out November 7 via Mom + Pop Music (+ Community Music in AU/NZ).

The new track drops alongside its official video which was filmed, edited and directed by the band’s very own Neve van Boxsel.

On new single “BAIT,” Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers are at their most biting and satirical, writing from the perspective of the worst person you’ve ever met: the ego-driven music industry man who thinks he’s God’s gift. Propelled by a thick, muddy bass riff and punctuated by cowbell, Anna Ryan’s almost robotic vocals reflect this man’s general disinterest and come underpinned by restrained guitars chopping in off beat and swirling. “‘BAIT’ is big ego, full menace mode.” the band shares. “We wrote it in LA, channeling a delusional man who thinks he’s God’s gift to earth. It was fun to cosplay as someone we’d all probably hate in real life.”

“BAIT” is the latest from GLORY, and follows the previously released fiery singles “MOTHER,” “UNSCARRED,” and “BALCONY.”

The album is an exploration of confidence, disgust, infatuation, and power set against widescreen indie-rock you can strut to — music that captures the rush of walking home after a night out, mascara smeared and battery on 1%. It’s the conspiratorial eye roll you share with a girlfriend when a loser guy won’t stop talking; it’s Cher Horowitz declaring “Ugh, as if!” in Clueless.

Produced by Catherine Marks (3x GRAMMY Award winner – boygenius, Wolf Alice), GLORY captures a band fully in command of their identity. Marks and the band spent five intensive weeks at a remote studio in New South Wales perfecting their vision — experimenting freely, throwing out what didn’t fit, and arriving at the truest version of their sound.

Mixed by Oli Jacobs (3× GRAMMY Award winner for Kendrick Lamar, beabadoobee, Taylor Swift) and mastered by Ruairi O’Flaherty (Sabrina Carpenter, Lana Del Rey, Bleachers), GLORY showcases Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers’ growth from brash garage beginnings into a band with stadium-ready confidence and razor-sharp intention.

Formed by Anna Ryan (they/she; vocals/guitar), Scarlett McKahey (she/her; guitar/vocals), Jaida Stephenson (she/her; bass), and Neve van Boxsel (she/her; drums), Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers first broke out with their 2022 EP Pretty Good For A Girl Band and its hit “Girl Sports.” Their 2023 debut album I Love You debuted at #6 on the ARIA Charts and featured the radio hit “I Used To Be Fun.” Since then, the band has won ARIA, AIR, and Rolling Stone Awards, been named one of Spotify’s Artists To Watch, and opened for Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam in both Australia and the US.

Beyond music, the band is known for their outspoken activism — championing gender equality, LGBTQIA+ rights, and climate action as ambassadors for Green Music’s No Music on a Dead Planet campaign.

With GLORY, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers cement their reputation as one of the most electrifying young bands in modern rock — brash, self-aware, and unapologetically themselves.
