Jordan Patterson – The Hermit

Jordan Patterson by Zenzelé

LA-based songwriter and producer Jordan Patterson releases her album The Hermit.

The album arrives not as a debut, but as a culmination—a spiritual successor to earlier works which first showcased Patterson’s diaristic lyricism and lo-fi inventiveness. This project marks a deepening: in craft, in vision, and in self-trust. It’s the sound of an artist learning not just how to write songs, but how to carry her own light—quietly, steadily, and with profound grace. Entirely self-written and co-produced alongside JEHU and Eric Van Thyne.

As a final taste of the project, today Patterson shared focus track “Hey Mama.”

A radiant exploration of growing up and out, the song exists in a state of contrast between the sunny styling and the sorrowful lyrics. The track presents a more folk-minded sound from Patterson, as the whimsy vocals she’s known for perfectly meet the fiddle-forward mix. Of “Hey Mama,” Patterson explains “My mom and I have been through thick and thicker together. In my darkest moment, the thought of her reminds me that grace dreams, in its purest form, are worth desiring and already exist in my own life. My grandma Hazel gave my mom, and then my mom gave me the single most important thing: love.”

North Carolina-born and LA-raised, Jordan Patterson creates catharsis from an alternative landscape. Blunt, raw, and decisive, Patterson is crafting a world through her music by inviting listeners to absorb the depth of her humanity and imagination. She attended the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts as a theater major but was exposed to new forms of artistry that expanded the scope of her creativity. In 2020, she moved to New York to attend NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts but moved back to LA in 2021 to pursue music full-time. She now finds herself back in the Valley, writing and performing across the city regularly at venues like El Cid, Genghis Cohen, Permanent Record Roadhouse, and more. She has also recorded with musicians cross-nationally, working with producers from LA, New York, Atlanta, and London.
