Luvcat – Blushing

Luvcat by Barnaby Fairley2

Today, rising UK artist Luvcat unveils “Blushing,” the latest single from her anticipated debut album Vicious Delicious, due October 31 via AWAL.

A dreamlike odyssey of glamour and grit, “Blushing” glows with romantic nostalgia, chronicling the meteoric rise of an artist who traded in late-night shifts and lipstick-smudged daydreams for festival stages and far-flung cities.

Of the song she explains, “‘Blushing’ started off as a kind of flirtation, full of young lust and longing. I added the bridge very recently at the end of recording the album and it became more of a reflection on the wild ride of the last year. Being in a band, falling in love with each other, quickly going from gigging in the pub in Liverpool to playing festivals in Tokyo. So now it feels like it’s really about the beauty and chaos of just being a girl. With a circus inside her”

The new single lands as Luvcat continues a packed summer run of European festival dates including performances at Sziget, Lowlands, Musikfestwochen, Pukkelpop and Rock en Seine – where she graced the same stages as icons including Chappel Roan and The Last Dinner Party – before returning to the UK at the end of this month for appearances at Reading & Leeds Festival. The fun is set to continue later into the autumn with a huge UK, EU and US tour run

Vicious Delicious promises to be a whirlwind ride through love, lust and the lunacy in between. Written between Parisian escapades, impromptu studio sessions, and whirlwind romances, the record fuses dark fairytale storytelling with prowling jazz, punk romanticism, and a splash of gothic sparkle. From fan-favourite murder ballads (“He’s My Man”) to sex-tape serenades (“Love & Money”) to the delicious danger of the title track, it’s a no-holds-barred debut from an artist quickly becoming a cult icon.

Speaking on her debut, Luvcat adds, “Making this album happened accidentally. Amongst the madness of the last year I decided I didn’t wanna fuck around with EPs or mixtapes. I really wanted to make my first proper statement and when I found out Halloween fell on a Friday, I knew we had to be fast to get it together. Its lipsticks a little smudged and its stockings are a little torn, but I am so proud of how we’ve captured this strange, magical story and all the lovers and libertines I’ve met along the way. I think the record is old school romance slightly off its hinges. A swinging pendulum between love and addiction, ecstasy and melancholy, eroticism and innocence, the deliciously vicious and the viciously delicious.”
