Career Woman – Boyfriends

Career Woman, the indie rock project led by 21-year-old songwriter Melody Caudill, shares “Boyfriends,” featuring rising anti-folk artist Pacing.

This track is the third single from her upcoming debut album, Lighthouse, out June 6 via Lauren Records.

“Boyfriends” is an ode to the changing nature of friendship in the face of new relationships. Co-written by Caudill and Pacing’s Katie McTigue, the two trade verses, ending in unison with a pop-rock refrain of “me and my friends, we don’t like men / but we got boyfriends.”

What originally started as a duet was then filled in by Career Woman’s full band, reaching the track’s final form. “Everyone in the band loved the song so much that we started playing with the full rock band arrangement at our live shows,” explains Caudill. “It became an instant hit in our local scene, so we knew we had to bottle up that version and release it. This version of the song is so much fun, and I am so glad that Katie was able to sing on it as well, since the song is essentially our musical child.”
