Erin LeCount – I Am Digital, I Am Divine

Today, Erin LeCount — a UK-based, 22-year-old artist whose self-produced, digitally-damaged baroque pop sound and incisive lyricism have amassed a dedicated online following shares her new EP, I Am Digital, I Am Divine.

I Am Digital, I Am Divine unveils a remarkable and fully-realized vision of postmodern pop music. These five songs inject the high drama and gothic Victorian backdrop of Kate Bush with the artful electronic production flourishes of oklou or Imogen Heap, all delivered with an undeniable vocal power reminiscent of Florence & The Machine.
Erin has also shared a new video for “Godspeed,” a scathing track that packs complex writerly detail into a propulsive, pop-savvy package.
As Erin shares:
“‘Godspeed” was written as an ode to my younger self and a warning to the new girl that my ex partner found after me. This song is the feeling of your head spinning, frustration and fear — the lyrics tell the story of a repeating cycle of hurt that you experienced and now have to witness play out again to someone else.”
“The song was a release of complicated emotions I had about speaking up against someone I loved and telling people what I had experienced, the idea that if I loved someone “till my dying breath” that I was now running out of air and desperate to shout all their secrets. The girl in question actually features in the backing vocals of the chorus and is now a friend.”
