Ally Salort – Horror Movie
Today, Los Angeles-based, Jersey-raised singer-songwriter Ally Salort releases a brand-new single “Horror Movie” – out now via Disruptor Records/RCA Records.
“Horror Movie” further showcases Ally Salort’s mastery of emotional storytelling and chilling cinematic metaphors. With her signature blend of intimate lyricism and moody undertones, she delivers a gripping portrait of emotional entrapment—where love becomes the villain, and she’s the character you can’t help but root for, even when you know how it ends.
On the single, Ally shares: “Horror movie is one big metaphor for going back to a person that will hurt you every time. Opening the door (the relationship) that everyone around you is screaming for you to not open; very similar to the girl that dies first in every scary film. I had the lines “I’m damned if I do but I’ll be more damned if I don’t” and from there we wrote the chorus. Can’t wait for people to hear the whole thing!”
Hailing from Maplewood, New Jersey, Ally Salort’s upbringing was immersed in music and art. Drawn to singing from a young age and inspired by her older brother’s recitals, Ally, at just seven years old, asked to take lessons—which opened up a whole new world for her. At 14, Ally discovered a talent search ad offering finalists the chance to be flown out to LA. As one of the finalists, she had the opportunity to record in studios and meet with industry executives. Through this experience, it motivated Ally to focus on growing her audience. A year later, she began posting covers on YouTube, which eventually led to a loyal fanbase on TikTok, where she now shares both covers and original music.
With a voice that carries both warmth and vulnerability, Ally’s music explores themes of love, self-discovery, and emotional growth. Inspired by artists like Ariana Grande and Fiona Apple, her songwriting resonates with listeners who appreciate the ability to express deep, complex emotions through lyrics, while creating songs that feel personal and relatable. Aiming to present everyday moments and emotions in a fresh, creative way, she strives to spark thought and inspiration, offering listeners a new perspective. Currently, coming off a European tour with Mackenzy Mackay, she’s working on her debut EP.
