Yoshika Colwell – Last Night

“Last Night” is the new single from Yoshika Colwell, out today on Blue Flowers (Rosie Lowe, Gotts Street Park, Puma Blue) and is the first new music since her collaborative EP with The Vernon Spring, released late last year.
A cosmic, other-worldly track, it is a song that explores “an enjoyable kind of confusion; desire, sensuality and the forbidden” and is both intuitive and mystical – appropriate for a song written about a dream, as Yoshika explains
“I wrote this song in about half an hour sitting alone in my caravan thinking about a dream I’d had the night before. Moments of this kind of fluidity are so rare but it kind of just flowed out of me. The truth of my subconscious mind rose to the surface, through all the mental mess & clutter and out through the song. It was one of the first songs I’d written for a long time that went towards what I was scared to articulate instead of obscuring it with metaphor or abstract, image based lyrics.”
Produced by Oli Bayston at Studio Orbb, where Yoshika recorded her critically acclaimed debut EP There’s A Time, “Last Night” features Rachel Horton-Kitchlew on harp and Joe Harvey-Whyte on pedal steel. Hailing from the South East of England, Yoshika has been writing and gigging solo across the UK since she started making music in earnest in 2017, support slots with Gotts Street Park, Fionn Regan and Bears Den have followed
