MB Padfield – The Start

Rising alternative rock force MB Padfield releases her debut EP, The Start.

A familiar name across the Northeast, MB Padfield has played over 1,500 live shows, sharing bills with Chris Daughtry, Grace Potter, and Howie Day. Now, the dynamic performer plans to introduce her original music to the world with The Start. Driven by Padfield’s haunting, velvety vocals, the four-track EP blends the intensity of alternative rock with a softer, introspective edge, shining light on themes of vulnerability, struggle, and resilience.
“This EP is for those who hold on, white-knuckled as they chase their ideas, unpack their pasts, and pursue the endless possibilities waiting on the other side of fear,” Padfield shares.
The focus track, ‘Waverider,’ captures a period of isolation and uncertainty in Padfield’s life.
She wrote the song in a cramped living room studio she shared with an ex-boyfriend during a time when she barely had the energy to get out of bed. “I knew there was something else for me, but I just wasn’t sure what it looked like,” she shares. With a memorable guitar riff and resonant lyrics like, “It don’t hit like it used to / And I tell myself it does (It doesn’t),” the track navigates the highs and lows that come with change and outgrowing something that no longer brings joy. The accompanying music video, which features the artist submerged in a clawfoot bathtub filled with ice, illustrates struggle and perseverance.
