Today, 19-year-old singer/songwriter SIENNA SPIRO announces the forthcoming release of her highly anticipated debut EP, SINK NOW, SWIM LATER due out on February 21st via Capitol Records.

Sink Now Swim Later

SIENNA once again reveals the extraordinary power of her vocal talents on her new track “BUTTERFLY EFFECT” — a stripped-back but soaring ballad affirming her as one of the most stunning vocalists of her generation. As the opening number to SINK NOW, SWIM LATER, the piano-driven track serves as a perfect introduction to the London-based artist’s timeless sound and immense emotionality.

Said SIENNA, ‘“BUTTERFLY EFFECT’ is the introduction track to my debut EP and really sets the emotional tone of the project. I created the track to have an unexpected climax and lack of structure to capture the unpredictability that mirrors ‘the butterfly effect’ concept and really tells the story of what this song is about. I’m so excited to be getting this out into the world and to share a collection of music I have been working on for such a long time.”

Along with “BUTTERFLY EFFECT,” SINK NOW, SWIM LATER will feature SIENNA’s breakout hit “MAYBE.” — a major fan favorite that’s climbed four viral Spotify charts across the globe and garnered over 35 million streams to date. In addition, the EP includes previously released tracks like “BACK TO BLONDE, “TAXI DRIVER,” and her debut single “NEED ME.” Made with producers like J Moon (Miley Cyrus, Dua Lipa), Max Wolfgang (Sia, Kelly Clarkson), and Sol Was (SG Lewis, Beyoncé), SINK NOW, SWIM LATER brings SIENNA’s captivating vocals and intimate lyrics to songs exploring everything from yearning to grief to the life-changing discovery of true inner strength.

Produced by Yakob (SZA, Lauv), “BUTTERFLY EFFECT” opens on a brightly fluttering piano melody as SIENNA begins to narrate her story of longing, regret, and self-sacrifice. As the song slowly builds in intensity — eventually weaving in a lush string section — she offers up a sorrowful plea to hold onto the one she adores (from the second verse: “I’ll unravel in your Mustang/Just so you can trust me/I’ll morph into any shape you like”). Co-written by SIENNA, Yakob, and Mary Weitz (FLETCHER, Remi Wolf), the result is a tearful yet transcendent track that captures an incredible expanse of feeling in just two-and-a-half minutes, with SIENNA’s vocals endlessly shifting from elegantly controlled to sublimely unfettered.
