Mila Degray – Masculine Charm

Today, upcoming alt-rock sensation Mila Degray is thrilled to share her latest single “Masculine Charm”, available now across music platforms courtesy of Velvet Jane Records.

“Masculine Charm” serves as a taste of Mila Degray’s upcoming Silver Meteor 98 album, due to be released this fall.

After her buzzy Sky Ferreira-esque cameo in the music video for Charli XCX and Billie Eilish’s remix of “Guess”, Degray aims to present herself as she sees fit.

With “Masculine Charm”, Mila Degray evokes the lyrical vulnerability associated with The Cranberries and sports a contemporary edge that is comparable to Soccer Mommy, Pom Pom Squad, and Pretty Sick. The track’s hazy, lo-fi production underpins Mila Degray’s tender, almost spectral vocals, giving her a distinctive combination of accessibility and emotional depth.

When discussing her latest track with Atwood Magazine, Mila Degray writes:

“Masculine Charm is about an experience I had with an older famous singer when I was 18 in a nice NYC hotel… He said I had “Masculine Charm”. Later, Harry Teardrop and I made the original demo in Brooklyn, just an iphone voice memo, which is actually still used for the whole intro of the song – then we created a huge guitar hook. After going back and forth from different producers, Richard Orofino from Sex Week layed down drums and we all realized something special had been created. The rest was up to me – So I wrote the verses of the song and layed down vocals and harmonies!”
