Lightning Bug – Opus

Today Lightning Bug shares a remarkable animated music video for their new single “Opus”, from their forthcoming album No Paradise. Entirely hand-drawn by Dane Hagen with color and backgrounds by Melanie Kleid, the video is based on a ghost story written by Audrey Kang. Once again, the band proves their distinctive ability to build a compelling universe with its own lore, dimension, and mystery.

Lightning Bug’s cinematic music makes a powerful score for Hagen’s very first animated piece—a beautifully rendered narrative about a young girl, a rocking horse, and a corpse-like hand.

The band shares: “We imagined ‘Opus’ as a dystopian folk song written for a post-apocalyptic fantasy saga. Or maybe it’s for the saga we’re all living in, as every year our humanity resigns itself to a world turning faster towards destruction.”
