Best Foreign Artist – Oumou Sangare – It took 8 years for this Malian artist to release a new album, Mogoya. She worked with producers in France and Sweden to make a mix of traditional instrumentation mixed with modern. Best Unexpected Surprise – Flint Eastwood – When we interviewed Eastwood about her EP Broke Royalty we had no idea of what she was like live. Her show is one part revival meeting, and 2 parts “in your face” rock.
